Harvey Not Just Causing Flooding Concerns

September 11th, 2017

News outlets have been calling it one of the worst storms on record. However, flooding and insurance claims are not the only cause for concern.

The Autism Society of Texas has been working with FEMA and the Red Cross to address the needs of the Special Needs population. A big concern is the crowding and noise at designated shelters that may have adverse effects on those with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Suggestions have come in the form of staying with family rather than a shelter as well as just getting through the day, even if it means more iPad time to calm nerves.
