Resource Guide: Using the TAT Springboard App for Transportation






The Arc Mercer’s Transportation Department utilizes the innovative TAT Springboard app, designed in collaboration with a Princeton professor, to streamline and optimize daily transportation operations. This guide will walk you through the essential features of the app and provide step-by-step instructions on how to use it effectively. This resource is designed for staff to refer back to when needed, ensuring smooth daily operations.


What is the Springboard App?


Springboard is a software solution designed to manage transportation routes, vehicle maintenance, driver logs, and other key performance indicators (KPIs). The app simplifies route management by allowing drivers to access real-time information on their cell phones, increasing efficiency and reducing unnecessary time and costs.


How Drivers Use the Springboard App


Drivers use the app to receive their route for the day in the most efficient order, with all data preloaded to avoid guesswork. Here’s how:


  • Log in to the app using the provided username and password.

  • Select the agency from the dropdown menu to access your dashboard.

  • Click on "Today’s Schedule," which will auto-populate the necessary details.

  • Select your assigned route by typing the first few letters and clicking the correct one.

  • Choose either the AM or PM route.

  • Once the day’s route appears, click "START" and enter the following:

  • License plate

  • Odometer reading

  • Your name

  • Hit "START" to begin your route.


Key Workflow Features


  • Navigate: Opens Google Maps to provide directions for your stops.

  • Perform: Tracks passenger pick-ups. Mark passengers by checking the box next to their name when they board.

  • Preview: Allows you to review your entire route and make adjustments if needed.


Important Reminders


  • After completing the AM route, remember to log out to record your route history before starting the PM route.

  • Logging out is essential to ensure that your route completion is recorded for payroll purposes.

  • Never leave your vehicle running or passengers unattended.


Additional App Features


  • Vehicle Report: Drivers must log in and complete the vehicle report, then hit "Submit."

  • Driver’s Log: Tracks vehicle usage as required by state and federal regulations for transporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ensure to complete the log and hit "Submit."

  • Repair Ticket: Use this feature to report vehicle issues. Complete the required information and submit the request, which is automatically sent to the repair facility and transportation department.


Safety Features

Two new buttons are being added for security:

  • S.O.S.: For vehicle breakdowns.

  • 180: For behavioral emergencies.


Safety & Defensive Driving Tips

  • Avoid distractions such as phone usage or adjusting in-vehicle buttons while driving.

  • Practice defensive driving by staying aware of other drivers and anticipating potential hazards.

  • Stop well before intersections and stop signs to avoid violations.

  • Always secure wheelchairs properly when using the lift.


By following this guide and using the Springboard app, our drivers can ensure safe, efficient, and compliant transportation for all our passengers.
