Protecting Our Community: Vaccination Success

clinic_51.jpg

The last year has been dominated by the Pandemic. With the roll out of vaccines, it appears that we are reaching the end of an era of quarantine, social distancing, and uncertainty. We are proud to be able to share that through several partnerships and the dedicated work of our team, we have managed to secure vaccinations for all of our residents, their families, and staff who were interested!

Learn how The Arc Mercer made this possible with the help of the wonderful members of our community who reached out to us knowing that we serve vulnerable populations!

Moving Forward in COVID-19

We are proud to share that even while tackling the Pandemic, we have successfully opened and received licensing for two new specialized group homes! We opened the doors to our “Village Road” home in Hamilton on October 16, 2020 and our “Horan” home (named in memorial to former Executive Director, John Horan) in Lawrenceville on November 3, 2020.

village_group_home_new.jpgWe developed our Village Road home to broaden our ability to serve young men who require additional behavioral support. Before opening, we had a list of individuals waiting to join our community. We were thrilled to have three successful placements who are currently thriving in their new home.

Our Horan home is very similar, but structured for women who also require additional behavioral support. Since opening, we have had two wonderful young ladies move in who are doing well and making connections! In April, we welcomed another young lady and the current residents could not wait to meet their new housemate!horan.gif

Resources for People with Special Needs

social_security_image.jpgThe Arc of New Jersey distributed this information in the summer of 2020. We have received very positive feedback from families who had a phone conversation with local Social Security employees using the Office Locator. We recognize that some families are not aware of an easy way to speak to a local Social Security employee during the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, we are redistributing the information.

Please share it with others who may also be interested.
