Protecting Our Community: Vaccination Success
The last year has been dominated by the Pandemic. With the roll out of vaccines, it appears that we are reaching the end of an era of quarantine, social distancing, and uncertainty. We are proud to be able to share that through several partnerships and the dedicated work of our team, we have managed to secure vaccinations for all of our residents, their families, and staff who were interested!
Consumer Spotlight: Bryan L.
The Arc Mercer “Consumer Spotlight” is our opportunity to recognize one of the many gems that make up our community. Bryan is one of those people, and we love his passion for his peers and excitement for the program.
Moving Forward in COVID-19
We are proud to share that even while tackling the Pandemic, we have successfully opened and received licensing for two new specialized group homes! We opened the doors to our “Village Road” home in Hamilton on October 16, 2020 and our “Horan” home (named in memorial to former Executive Director, John Horan) in Lawrenceville on November 3, 2020.
We developed our Village Road home to broaden our ability to serve young men who require additional behavioral support. Before opening, we had a list of individuals waiting to join our community. We were thrilled to have three successful placements who are currently thriving in their new home.
Our Horan home is very similar, but structured for women who also require additional behavioral support. Since opening, we have had two wonderful young ladies move in who are doing well and making connections! In April, we welcomed another young lady and the current residents could not wait to meet their new housemate!
Both Village Road and Horan still have vacancies! If you would like to see your loved one join The Arc Mercer community, please contact our Family Supports Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at (609) 406-0181, ext. 112.
Resources for People with Special Needs
The Arc of New Jersey distributed this information in the summer of 2020. We have received very positive feedback from families who had a phone conversation with local Social Security employees using the Office Locator. We recognize that some families are not aware of an easy way to speak to a local Social Security employee during the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, we are redistributing the information.
